About Eric Beaton
Eric Beaton was the 2006 Winner of Harvard University's Howard T. Fisher Prize in
Geographic Information Science, a competitive prize awarded to the Harvard
graduate student with the best GIS analysis. His prize combined cutting edge GIS
technology with thorough background research as well as analysis of the data. In
their review, the judges noted:
"The submission shows effective use of innovative
spatial analysis, particularly in the creation of accessibility points and polygons. It
is immediately clear how the results of this project might be of practical use..
analysis method is innovative and makes a real contribution...clear and convincing
graphical presentation."

Eric graduated in 2006 with a Master of Urban Planning degree from Harvard's
Graduate School of Design, where he was both a social and academic leader,
while earning his degree with a concentration in transportation and infrastructure
planning. Through Harvard's unique studio learning system, Eric was able to work
on a number of real life projects, including
  • A Regional Plan for Southeast Massachusetts
  • Analysis of Commuter Rail's effects on land use patterns in Massacusetts
  • Transportation and Physical Design issues in Roxbury, Boston

Eric received his undergraduate degrees in Government and American Studies
with honors from Cornell University in 2004. His senior thesis explored Grand
Central Terminal and the dramatic role that the public-private partnership used to
build the station had on the surrounding neighborhood.

Eric is currently located at 250 E. 87th Street in New York City, and would be
willing to work with clients either nearby, or working at more remote locations.
